Pride Month Cocktails

We all know that the official Pride Month cocktail is Vodka Soda. According to anecdotal evidence, this cocktail is the most consumed at gay bars. We know that sticking with the same old ol’ is not fun, so we have a list of rainbow-colored drinks you can try this month. A rainbow flag’s worth of drinks that is. Each color in the Progress Flag gets a cocktail. These drinks will be fuel for all your Pride Month celebrations.

Red: Negroni

In just a few years, this century-old cocktail went from being a hot drink for men to be for women. The equal-part mixture of Gin and Campari and sweet vermouth is a great choice. It creates a drink that’s both sweet and bitter.

Orange: Aperol Spritz

For several years, this has been the summer cocktail unofficially known as “The Cocktail of Summer” for several years. You probably know how to make one. Remember the three, two, one formula: Three ounces prosecco, two ounces Aperol and one ounce of club soda. Try Cynar, a bitter Italian liqueur, to add a twist to the classic.

Yellow: Harvey Wallbanger

This retro drink is gaining popularity and can be found everywhere, from bars to brunch menus. This combination of vodka, Galliano and orange juice can be enjoyed day or night with ease and boozy retro elegance.

Green: Mojito

This fun, classic mix of rum and mint with simple syrup and club soda is a great way to say “beach” or “I’d prefer the beach”. It takes more effort to mix the mint than other drinks, but it is worth it to smack the mint sprig garnish with your back to release its aroma oils and make eye contact while sipping the simple syrup.

Blue: Adios Motherfucker

This drink, a blue-hued Long Island Iced Tea, can be astonishingly delicious when made with quality ingredients. Make sure you use homemade sweet-and-sour mix and not the pre-made stuff. When you toast good riddance with someone, shout its name.

Purple: Color-Changing Martini

We prefer to call it the Color-Affirming Martini, as we prefer to refer to it this month and every month. This cocktail can change from blue to pink quickly thanks to the magical effects of butterfly pea extract and its interaction with acidic substances (in this instance, lemon juice). The cocktail also includes simple syrup, ginger liqueur, and Gin. This allows you to wow your guests with its spicy-sweet flavor and color-changing magic.

Black: Black Manhattan

Mix the Manhattan with bitters and rye whiskey to create Averna. This bittersweet Italian liqueur is a great alternative to sweet vermouth. This delicious, elegant, and 100% booze recipe will get the job done in the fanciest ways.

Brown: Boilermaker

There is a simpler name to describe the combination of beer-and-a shot types. Boilermaker is the correct name. Don’t do the juvenile act of pouring the beer into a shot glass back at college. Adults can drink it better by taking a shot and then drinking the beer separately.
